Pair of Barnard & Simonds Blue Leather and Mahogany Armchairs

About the Item

Pair of Chippendale influenced armchairs from Barnard & Simonds, Rochester, NY. Cadet blue leather wrapped arms, back as well as seat with brass nailhead details. Mahogany frames have canted front legs, Chippendale style open back and four part dowel stretchers. Barnard & Simonds Co., Inc., (1898-1971) was organized in Rochester, NY with a showroom in Grand Rapids, MI. The company moved to Grand Rapids in 1958 and purchased Independent Michigan Furniture Shops throughout 1958. In 1967 the company was purchased by Baker Furniture and in 1971 was absorbed into the Baker enterprise. Measure: Arm height 28" H.
