Early 19th Century Lancashire Bobbin Rocking Chair

About the Item

Lancashire Bobbin rocking chair  An original Lancashire bobbin rocking chair.  A bobbin rocking chair with wool winders, early 19th century.  These were country chairs found in the English areas of Lancashire and Cheshire. Wool winders would take the skeins of wool and wrap them systematically in figure-of-eight patterns using the four uprights at the top of the chair. Made from ash and elder with a bobbin turned frame.  We have cleaned the frame, applied a generous coating of wax and finished with a emerald green velvet seat pad.  Dimensions: High 106 cm Seat height 40 cm Wide 54 cm, Deep 79 cm  A stunning centre piece for any room and a great investment.
