English Ribbon Back Settee

About the Item

Rare English mahogany settee, delicately carved with a tied ribbon back splat, on scrolled cabriole legs. This tied ribbon style was favoured by Chippendale. The three seat settee, more formal than a sofa was designed to give the appearance of armchairs side by side.
