About the Item
Mid-Century 'Ringo' three seater sofa designed by Gerard Van Den Berg for Montis. Soft form sofa with thick leather.Manufactured by Montis and designed by co-founder Gerard van den Berg, this is an elegant and contemporary piece of furniture. Gerard van den Berg describes his Ringo design as "comfortable and inviting. Those who sit do not want to stand up. Using a visually simple form as a starting point, he created an unquestionable highlight in his already stellar body of work. In original condition with visible wear consistent with its age and use. Matching lounge chair ( LU922438246532) also available and listed separately.
Gerard van den Berg apprenticed with a painter at a young age, where he honed and expanded his creative abilities. He then attended School in Rotterdam to learn about furniture manufacturing before training as a furniture maker at his father's company. His technical knowledge became an important part of his creative talent. “I work with both my hands and my head because furniture making is a wonderful job. The urge to create always drives me to make something. I always use simple, natural lines as a basis for my designs. I like pure and simple. Don't stack too many shapes on top of each other and don't add too much decoration. I am fully aware of what I want, what is possible and what is not possible. My furniture must also radiate that."
