Important Leather Sofa By Charles Ramos France 1958

About the Item

Charles Ramos, rare, leather sofa on gilded aluminum legs. Minimal, elegant, graceful and yet comfortable. Made in France around 1958, a true, hard to find piece. Coming from a cabinetmaker family, Charles Ramos was a self taught designer and interior architect, beginning his career at the age of 25, in 1950. His agency editor was M. Castellanetta through the 1970's. He first exhibited at the "Salon des artistes decorateurs" in 1952 and began a collaboration with Louis Baillon as an interior designer. After their amicable separation, he meets and collaborates with Jaques Biny on lighting projects. This item can be view at The Berkshire Galleries of Great Barrigton Massachusetts.
