About the Item

Magnificent and large three-seater sofa, convertible, in solid teak and linen and cotton fabrics. The wooden frame has been completely restored, the mattress is new and covered, like the cushions, with a very pretty linen and cotton fabric in shades of beige. This restoration was entirely carried out by the TWS workshops (Calais) with respect and craftsmanship. This magnificent original creation is by Gérard Guermonprez. This piece of furniture is very elegant and remarkably functional, it goes from the sofa position to the bed position very easily. Period: 20th century Circa: 1960 Dimensions: Height: 85cm x Length: 214cm x Depth: 97cm Designer: Gérard Guermonprez Gérard Guermonprez is a French designer of the 20th century known for his wooden furniture, simple and functional, renowned for their solidity. Trained at the Boulle school in Paris, he exhibited his creations for more than twenty years at the Salon des arts menagers in 1954. In 1955, he presented, in particular, series furniture in light oak mounted on a black lacquered metal base that was particularly remarkable. In 1957, Gérard Guermonprez began a fruitful collaboration with the cabinetmaker's workshop Magnani for whom he designed interior furniture. Sideboards, tables, chairs, storage units with multiple functions. Its pieces bear the label of AMF master craftsmen and some exclusive creations are even numbered. This partnership increases the success of the designer and allows him to access a larger edition and distribution. Gérard Guermonprez's models were then distributed in Paris (notably at Bobois, within Roche establishments, and at the At Home store) but also in the provinces and even in North Africa (Casablanca, Oran, Algiers).
