About the Item

Special and rare midcentury sofa set named Saga- including a teaktable that can be removed and placed where you wish. New upholstery in beige soft fabric. Leather piping around the seatedges. Teaklegs and trunk. This set is designed by Gunnar Sørlie (1920-1999) and manufactured by Karl Sørlie & Sønner (later Sørliemøbler) in 1958. Norway. Measures: 165 cmL x 75 cmD x 50 cmH (table) x 76 cmH (back) c 38 cm seat height x 51 cm seat dept. The Saga System was an important representative of industrial furniture manufacturing during the 1950s/60s. Due to its many functional features, Saga soon became a popular choice for private and public environments. The story consists of table tops and seats that can be varied on a single undercarriage. These seats were available for one up to four seats. Alternatively, you could use table tops between the seats like on this piece.  The Saga System received the price award for Good Design in 1965. Very good vintage condition.
