About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning original Victorian fully restored whisky brown leather sofa with coil sprung base feather filled cushions and claw and ball feet I have included above a picture of the matching armchairs, they are not part of this auction but are listed for sale under my other items A very good looking well-made sofa in fully restored condition throughout. This is an exceptionally comfortable piece, the leather upholstery is fully aniline natural cowhide, what that means is the leather is untreated and upholstered plain, the hide shows the natural imperfections of the skin so when you look at the back and side panels you see that amazing patina, the sofa is then originally hand dyed which costs substantially more than pre-dyed leather The cushions are dense feather filled and very nice, the base platform is as you would expect a coil sprung affair, the padding is horse hair and hessian supported, each spring is hand tied 8 ways. The entire frame is solid English oak and the claw and balls are carved from single pieces of wood All in all, you have an amazing looking sofa here, the back is quite straight and firm so if you are looking for a softback I would recommend scatter cushions Dimensions: Height 78 cm Width 141.5 cm Depth 91.5 cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
