Taichiro Nakay La Permanente Mobili Cantù Sofà Pierre Frey Fabric Italy 1955
About the Item
Corner sofa designed by the Japanese Taichiro Nakay for La Permanente Mobili Cantù in Italy, 1955.
It is a rare sofa with unique and sinuous lines supported by four cherry wood feet with excellent period patina in the shape of a truncated cone.
It has a comfortable back supported by three black painted iron rods.
The sofa has been completely reupholstered and rewoven as you can see.
We can provide photos of the various processes of the restoration.
The sofa has been covered with a very precious 100% linen fabric, where the artist Christian Astuguevieille uses his own pictorial language, which he calls 'imaginary writing'. He mixes figurative elements representing symbols of civilization - objects, amphorae, shields - with a more abstract graphic style painted with Indian ink and a thick brush.
This model was present at the exhibition "La Mostra Selettiva del Mobile" at the Galleria Mobili d'Arte in Cantù (Italy) from 17 September to 5 October 1955.
