Dylan Moore Studio, Slatted Ash Stools

About the Item

Slatted Ash Stools were designed in collaboration with Alex Sowinski (of BadBadNotGood) in 2019. This set was conceived to accompany a live performance of BadBadNotGood at Dylan Moore's studio in Toronto. They were lit up from the inside illuminating the stools as the band sat on and interacted with the pieces during their performance. They were also used in a photoshoot with the renowned poet Rupi Kaur. The pieces can be used in many different configurations only limited by your imagination. Grouped together they are a perfect and unique coffee table. Pulled apart individually and they are great low-stools. Placed on edge and they become playful sculptures. Stacked on top of one another with a light inside and they become a lamp. If you are looking for a fun, interactive and totally unique set of furniture than this is a must have for your home.

  • Guitar Cabinet
    By Dylan Moore Studio
    Located in Toronto, ON
Dylan Moore Studio's white oak guitar cabinets are exquisite pieces of craftsmanship that combine traditional solid wood cabinet-making techniques with unique handcrafted details and finishes. These cabinets are designed to showcase and protect guitars, making them both functional and beautiful pieces of furniture for any musician or guitar enthusiast. Dylan Moore Studio's white oak guitar cabinets are constructed using time-honored woodworking techniques. The primary material used is white oak, a hardwood known for its durability and attractive grain patterns. The wood is carefully selected for its quality and aesthetics, ensuring each cabinet has a distinct character. The construction of the cabinets involves precision joinery techniques such as dovetail joints, mortise and tenon joints, and tongue-and-groove connections. These methods ensure the structural integrity and longevity of the cabinets, as they are built to withstand the weight of guitars and maintain their shape over time. One of the distinguishing features of Dylan Moore Studio's guitar cabinets is the intricate hand-carved textures on the back panel. Talented artisans meticulously carve delicate patterns and textures into the solid wood, adding depth and visual interest to the cabinet's rear surface. These hand-carved details are not only visually stunning but also provide a tactile and artistic element to the piece. The front of the white oak guitar cabinet is adorned with glass doors, allowing a clear view of the guitars inside. The glass is tempered to provide strength and safety while still maintaining transparency. The glass doors are fitted into the cabinet using elegant brass hardware, adding a touch of sophistication and contrasting beautifully with the warmth of the white oak. The brass hardware includes door handles, hinges, and small decorative accents, all carefully chosen to complement the overall design of the cabinet. Oxidizing White Oak with Vinegar and Steel Wool: To achieve the signature aged and weathered appearance, the white oak wood is oxidized using a natural process involving vinegar and steel wool. The oak is exposed to a mixture of vinegar and steel wool, which creates a chemical reaction that accelerates the aging of the wood and darkens its color. This process not only imparts a beautiful patina to the white oak but also enhances its natural grain, giving each cabinet a unique and rustic charm. The oxidized finish is then sealed with a protective clear coat to preserve the beauty and integrity of the wood. In conclusion, Dylan Moore Studio's white oak guitar cabinets are the epitome of craftsmanship and artistry. Through traditional solid wood cabinet-making techniques, intricate hand-carved textures, glass doors with brass hardware, and the special oxidation process, these cabinets are not just functional guitar storage...
