Provincial Chinese Fan Stool, circa 1900

About the Item

This late 19th century stool from China's Hebei province charms with its simple form and smoothed texture. The fan-shaped seat is supported by splayed legs bolstered by simple stretcher bars and a gently curved footrest. Beautifully worn from a century of use, the expressive grain of northern elmwood (yumu) is on full display, textured by traces of the stool's original dark finish. Additional dimensions: Seat: 14.75" W x 7" D.
