17th Century, James I, Carved Boarded Oak Chest, England, Circa 1603 - 1625

About the Item

Featuring a one-piece top with chip-carved ends and moulded front edge, the front finely carved in a nulled and guilloche design taking account of the iron lockplate position, atop scroll-profiled spandrels, the sides descending to V-shaped cut-away supports.
