18th Century English Oak Blanket Chest
About the Item
The front of this English oak blanket chest has three recessed panels framed with molded edges and one long drawer with the original open panels. The key hole has a flush brass escutcheon. The sides have recessed panels with molded framing. The base has ogee molding atop shaped bracket feet. The interior has a one-half inch pine reinforcement liner and a folding ratchet brace on the left hand side that rises and seats in a carved notch to hold the top open.
