This is a vintage campaign chest. An English, camphorwood military travel trunk, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1930.
Delightfully clean example with generous storage within
Displays a desirable aged patina and in superb order
Select camphorwood stocks show warm caramel hues
Quality craftsmanship with through dovetail joints and brass straps to corners
Deep lid with braced interior opens on internal hinges with chain stay
Wide, well-presented interior offers the coveted aroma of camphorwood
Inset lid handle and a small brass lock to front fascia — untested, key absent
Cast iron drop handles to either end and a hand-painted 'M' monogram
This is an appealing vintage campaign chest, with a desirable quality and wonderfully clean interior. Suitable for use as a distinctive coffee table or for attractive storage. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
