3 Rare 1920s Gunn Library Stacking Bookcases & Desk Bureau Minty Globe Wernicke

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare circa 1920 suite of three Gunn solid oak stacking modular Library bookcases with rare drawer section and bureau desk piece This is an exceptionally rare find, firstly if you are not familiar with stacking bookcases each section can be removed or added to suit your needs, you can see the bookcases all perfectly in line but if you had a smaller space to fit them you simply remove one section, if you don’t need or want the drawers or desk piece just take it out, if you want them for under a staircase in a sloping formation then away you go, that is the wonder of these pieces, it takes a few minutes only and your done These bookcases were made for solicitors offices, I have never in all my time seen the drawers as part of the set and only ever seen one other desk bureau, also they are usually in a lighter brown color, to find this almost Jacobean brown is again very rare We have cleaned waxed and polished the set from top to bottom, they are solid English oak, the glass is all original, every section can be locked however I don’t have any keys, I can have them made for a fee should the new owner wish Dimensions: Height:- 215.5cm Width:- 87cm, total width 261cm Depth:- 30.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
