Austrian-German 19th Century Carved Walnut Black-Forest Hunt Credenza Bookcase

About the Item

A very large and impressive Austrian-German 19th century finely carved walnut figural Black-Forest "Hunting" credenza Bibliothèque (Bookacase). The intricately carved two-part body, the upper part with three domed glass doors and carved shelves, flanked with carvings of a boar and bird preys, tree branches, leaves, lion masks and a rounded trims, all crowned with a rectangular top with carvings depicting lion-heads, swans and shields. The bottom cabinet, equally ornately carved with three apron drawers above three doors, each door centred with a shield carving of a boar, fish and a bird, all decoratively tied with tree branches and leaves, the sides with carving of hunting dogs, all raised on carved lion-paws, circa 1880.     Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. A truly amazing quality cabinet, very impressive in person. Overall condition is very good considering age & size.     A Fine French 19th Century Neo-Renaissance Style Gilt-Bronze Mounted Walnut and Mahogany Two-Door Bargueno or Cabinet on Stand, attributed to Paul Sormani (1817-1877), designed Édouard Lièvre (1828-1886) and retailed by Poujol - Paris. The spreading pediment Vitruvian scrolled fitted frieze centered by a crest and flanked by cartouches, the quarter paneled doors with pierced rinceaux reserves and centered by an ormolu portrait relief roundels of King Charles VII of France 'The Victorious' (1403-1461) and Agnès Sorel (1422-1450), flanking a gilt-bronze statuette of 'The Belvedere Hermes’, the base fronted by open arches centered by a pair of columns with Corinthian capitals, above a spreading platform, all raised on bun feet.
