Important George III Mahogany China Closet/Secretaire
About the Item
Note, this cabinet has many similarities with several items in Chippendale's body of work. While Chippendale's firm made several examples of this overall form, such as the much more elaborate example at Dumfries House, this piece compares best to pieces at Paxton and Nostell Priory. Please write for a detailed study of this piece in the context of Chippendale's oeuvre, including construction, finish and packing similarities.
