Outstanding quality antique chippendale style mahogany bureau bookcase having a carved and gilded swan-neck pediment above a pair of mahogany doors with mirror plates and a carved gilded edge opening to reveal a fitted interior consisting of 16 drawers, 16 pigeon holes, letter racks, bookends and a centre door opening to reveal secret drawers. The bureau having a quality mahogany full opening to reveal a fitted interior consisting 8 serpentine drawers, 8 pigeon holes, 4 bookends and a centre door opening to reveal secrets drawers and a leather writing surface above 2 short and 3 long cockbeeded oak lined drawers with original brass handles and escutcheons standing on ogee bracket feet A spectacular example of a Chippendale design that has been beautifully crafted. The quality is first class and even though not marked by the marker it is most certainly from one of the leading cabinet makers.
