Walnut Bookcase with Shoji
About the Item
Handmade bookcase in oiled walnut featuring abstract pattern shoji. This bookcase is made of solid, quarter sawn walnut and constructed utilizing timber joinery methods to allow long lengths to be made from a material rarely cut at these lengths.
The bookcase features movable shoji screens built utilizing traditional methods and materials. The paper backing featured in these screens is a durable product made of traditional washi paper laminated to a very thin center core. This makes a washi paper which is much more durable. The material is applied utilizing the traditional method of rice glue and is replaceable.
It is recommended that this case be assembled in place, so please provide your location and we can determine the best method. In addition, the case must be braced by a wall and attached to that wall utilizing clips which are easily hidden by painting them wall color.
