19th Century French Oak Buffet
About the Item
Beautiful craftsmanship and statuesque proportions give this oak buffet an air of antique grandeur. Hand-built in France in the 1800s, a brindled grain dances in dark patterns over the pale golden surface of the wood, bringing a sense of fluidity to the sturdy form. Faceted corner panels bring dimension to the silhouette, while the intricately carved acanthus motifs which decorate the scrolled brackets add a delightfully Baroque element. Gilded diamond-shaped lock pieces provide a gleaming finishing touch.
