18th Century French Oak Cabinet
About the Item
Antique French Provincial chunky oak cabinet or commode with its beautiful old hardware. It is dovetailed and peg jointed. The doors have deep recessed panels held in place with their original hinges. The cabinet has simple stile legs with a simply carved scalloped skirt to the front. It retains old scraped back paint (not original) with a polished top.
French Provincial style of furniture emerged in the 18th century. It was influenced by the simpler, rustic designs found in the countryside. Consequently, a wonderful piece of furniture for a French Country designed farmhouse.
