18th Century Wrought Iron Italian Antique Hobnail Safe Strong Box Bar Cabinet
About the Item
Beautiful and rare example of late 18th century Italian master blacksmith craftsmanship, this antique studded safe with typical all-around hobnails and great wrought iron details, is probably from the Piedmont region, has a great metal color with patina of time and solid cast iron frontal geometric and more curved classical decors.
The amazing lock and opening mechanism works with 2 beautiful keys, one with a magnificent spades-shaped hollow shaft and one with a circle shaped shaft plus a special hook. This tricky mechanism and combination starts with finding the release hidden behind some decors to expose the key holes and then a secret sequence with levers and movements to follow with the keys and hook allows to unlock the safe and open the door.
Excellent conditions, fully restored, waxed and polished with perfectly working locking mechanism and great patina of time.
