Pogliani, Cabinet in Two Parts, Inlaid and Inlaid with Ebony
About the Item
Walnut cabinet inlaid and inlaid with ebony, copper, mother-of-pearl, bone and brass opening with 3 doors in the upper part and two doors in the lower part. Amount decorated with caryatids, front legs in the shape of lion heads. Neo Renaissance style.
This piece of furniture is from the 19th century and is attributed to the Pogliani workshop.
Pogliani (1832-1899)
one of the great masters of Italian cabinetmaking of the second half of the 19th century specialized in monumental Renaissance-style furniture enhanced with marquetry of precious materials, metals, hard stones and marbles,
Pogliani thus positions himself as one of the best heirs of the Florentine encrusters of the 16th and 17th centuries.
