17th Century Italian Walnut Commode with Drop Front Desk and Three Drawers

About the Item

An Italian walnut commode from the 17th century, with drop front desk and three large drawers. Created in Italy during the 17th century, this commode features a rectangular top with partial lift top, sitting above a drop front desk concealed behind a panel carved to give the illusion that we are in the presence of two small drawers. This section opens up to reveal four small drawers with oval ring pulls, surrounding a central opening. The rest of the façade presents three long drawers conceived in a manner echoed from the desk and flanked by pilaster style motifs on the side posts. The sides are made of molded panels with carved accents while the back is of course, unfinished. Its weathered appearance reveals the commode's great age. The ensemble is raised on bracket feet. With its great authentic age and rustic patina, this Italian walnut commode from the 17th century will make for a wonderful addition to any bedroom or living room!
