18th Century French Carved Walnut Chest of Drawers

About the Item

This is a carved walnut chest of drawers / dresser made in France, circa 1780. The top of the chest has a nicely molded edge and, as with any proper made piece of furniture, follows the shape of the base of the chest. The chest has beautifully shaped sides and a serpentine shaped front. There are 2 drawers to the chest. Each of the drawers has a molded and shaped edge and the finest quality hand carvings and moldings. The original solid brass handles are of the absolute finest quality and are stunning. The skirt on the bottom of the front of the chest is the finest open pierced hand carving imaginable. The chest has rounded corners on the right and left front with hand carved moldings. Both the right and left sides of the chest has a highly shaped panel with hand carved moldings. There is a hand carved skirt to the bottom on both the right and left sides. The chest sits on a beautiful set of hand carved short Cabriole feet on the front and even has feet on the back that are shaped with a scrolled foot. The original finish and overall physical condition are wonderful. This is an exceptional example of a great quality, beautiful piece of 18th century French Country Furniture.
