18th Century Italian Louis XV Period Marquetry Bombe Chest of Drawers

About the Item

A fine Italian mid-18th century figured-walnut bombe three drawer commode; the commode is inlaid on all visible sides including the top in attractive olive wood and walnut, and it sits on tall elegant swept feet. The commode has its original locks, gilt bronze door handles, and escutcheons.

    A Louis XV period Dutch mahogany armoire and chest of drawers that in its time would have been used as a linen press. The armoire is topped with a serpentine carved cartouche showing a classical male head in profile wearing a wreath; inset in open carved acorn branches over a pair of panelled doors in beautifully matched mahogany.
