19th Century Empire French Semainier Commode

About the Item

Empire Semainier, Mahogany, France, 1825-1830 ,,The Empire style is an early-nineteenth-century design movement in architecture, furniture, other decorative arts, and the visual arts, representing the second phase of Neoclassicism''. A fine quality substantial size figured mahogany semainier with marble on top and superb gilt bronze ormolu handles and mounts. Fantastic veneer pattern on the furniture front and sides. Seven drawers to provide a drawer of clothing or lingerie for every day of the week. Beneath and flanked by finely turned columns with etched brass capitals and bases. A useful sized decorative piece which is typical of this early nineteenth century napoleonic style. Seven original lock with seven keys. Condition: Condition of this furniture is very good. The furniture has been restored. Surface is hand polished with shellack. Ready to use and enjoy.
