19th Century French Louis XIV Painted Commode

About the Item

19th century French Louis XIV painted commode is as functional as it is visually appealing! The wonderfully contoured facade embraces four spacious drawers that are fitted with brass pulls and carved with stylized foliate motifs. The rounded cornerposts have received the attentions of the sculptor's hand, as well, with scrollwork and foliates leading the eye down to the massive lion's paw feet below, all set at 45 degrees to enhance the look. The multi-hued gray patinaed painted finish completes the effect with style! Circa 1890s Measures 39 H x 53 W x 21.5 D.

19th Century Country French Louis XIV Commode is a classic representation of the genre, crafted by master artisans from the finest materials to last for generations! Old-growth oak was hand-selected to create the to, which features a double-beveled edge and a subtle bowed front to follow the contour of the casework below. Three full width drawers open to reveal substantial storage. The facade is adorned with carved cornerposts that lead the eye down to the boldly scrolled and carved legs, and provide a framework for the three drawers and apron between.
