Antique French Louis XV Style Bombe Chest of Drawers
About the Item
A stunning French Louis XV bombe marble-top chest of drawers commode from the 19th century, styled in the manner of Charles Cressent (France, 1685–1768), finished in luxurious Rocco taste, featuring exotic well figured burled wood, hand-crafted in a curvacious, exceptionally complex bombe form, fitted with two shapely contoured drawers, then adorned in lavish, exquisitely cast Neoclassical gilt bronze ormolu mounts, exuberant scrolling foliate pulls flank classical putti and flaming urn mounts, topped with a massive, luxuriously veined salmon serpentine shaped, contoured and beveled marble top.

Iconic Dallas, Texas decorator Ruth Gray Julian interiors.

Large size and proportions, ideal for use as a bedroom dresser, sideboard server, credenza, hall console and more.
Great condition overall, especially considering age. Gilt gold detailing is vibrant and restored. Beautiful wood finish, wear consistent with age and use, including minor imperfections, chips, scuffs and scratches. Overall in great shape, strong, solid, sturdy. Delivered cleaned, hand waxed in a French polished patina, and ready for immediate use.
