Danish Louis XVI Chest of Drawers with Original Paint
About the Item
Very beautiful Louis XVI chest of drawers, crafted in pine in original polychrome color, with a fantastic natural age-related patina.
Below the top plate red painted dental mouldings.
The chest features 5 drawers: 4 lager drawers and a smaller drawer at top. The top drawer features flutings and a red painted carved diamond on each side. Each of the 4 larger drawers is decorated with an organic pattern around each drawer handle. Quarter column side posts.
Wrought iron carrying handles on each side.
Resting on a lose base with fluting and diamonds, ending in tapered legs with spade feet.
Denmark 1780-1790
It is extremely rare to find a Louis XVI chest of drawers with such beautiful and well-preserved original paint.
