English 1820s Georgian Period Black and Gold Chinoiserie Chest with Stone Top
About the Item
An English Georgian ebonized chinoiserie chest-of-drawers from the early 19th century with gilt and black lacquered accents and later added stone top. Created in England during the first quarter of the 19th century, this chest attracts our immediate attention with its contrasting colors and chinoiserie décor. A rectangular stone top that was added later, rests on a beautiful façade showcasing 11 drawers harmoniously arranged, each adorned with a gold decor depicting landscapes, architectures and animals, standing out beautifully on a black lacquered ground. The side panels showcasing a faint décor, the chest is raised on straight feet. With its clean lines and delicate chinoiserie, this English chest circa 1820 will bring a graceful touch to any home.
