English Oak Carved Four Drawer Chest

About the Item

English Oak Carved Four Drawer Chest, has a dentil cornice and frieze. The drawers depict carved leaves and other foliate patterns. It retains one of its original locks for the top right hand drawer.

    This four-drawer chest or commode is made of French cherry. The top is 23" deep with only two boards joined. There is a shrinkage separation at the joint and some shrinkage cracks in the rear top board. The front frieze is actually a drawer with a finger groove for opening the drawer that runs the entire length from left to right. The drawer front exposes markings where handles were attached in the past. These could be professionally disguised if desired.
