About the Item

Louis Philippe 19th century French chest of drawers. The wood is in walnut bramble. Walnut brambles are flamed because they have many aesthetic designs. These drawings have complex patterns with high contrast and entangled veins on a naturally dark background of varying intensities. Thus the walnut bramble wonderfully imitates a theatre curtain. This chest of drawers is equipped with four drawers, one of which is called "doucine". It is hidden in the upper belt of the chest of drawers. The drawers are mounted in dovetail ensuring perfect strength. The drawers can be opened daily and can contain many sometimes heavy objects. They slide perfectly. The back of the dresser has solid wood panels so very resistant. Discreet entrances do not protrude from the surface. They are brass and have the shape of a heart. Each lock has its own key. The dresser is perfectly stable. It rests on low legs that respect the shape of the furniture at the front and two straight feet at the back. The top of the dresser is a gray marble saint Anne. The marble is richly veined and in perfect condition. The edges are rounded. In the 19th century all renowned houses had a Louis Philippe chest of drawers with simple and elegant lines. Wear consistent with age and use. Very good condition. This piece of furniture has been carefully cleaned and revised in our workshop by myself and my professional cabinetmakers. Our workshop is open every day from 8 am to 7 pm and our warehouse is full of curiosities.
