George III Tray Top Commode

About the Item

George III tray top commode, the top features beautiful swirl grain mahogany, the front has a sliding tambour with open storage inside. Below, the drawer with swan neck pulls, has been converted , originally it would have held a white porcelain potty. The sides have cut outs for carrying. These straight leg commodes make excellent bedside stands or can bed used beside a sofa.

    Additions or alterations made to the original: The pull out drawer has a bottom that originally would have held a potty. Wear consistent with age and use. The sides have minor repaired shrinkage splits that have been filled, quite common on these pieces. The top has very minor ink stains.
