Italian 17th Century Baroque Period Fruitwood and Giltwood Chest
About the Item
A most handsome Italian 17th century Baroque period ebonized fruitwood and giltwood chest, from Florence. The four drawer chest is raised by bun feet below a mottled border. At the center are three wide drawers, decorated with sensational detailed giltwood roaring lion heads and pierced giltwood keyhole escutcheons, with one smaller drawer above. Leading up each cut corner are impressive and wonderfully executed scrolled foliate giltwood mounts. The polished top displays the rich ebonized fruitwood grain. All original hardware, patina and gilt throughout.
