Italian 18th Century Louis XV Period Tulipwood and Kingwood Bombe Commodes
About the Item
An exquisite and high quality pair of Italian 18th Louis XV period tulipwood and kingwood bombée commodes. Each chest is raised on four cabriole legs with brass wrap around sabots, and elegant tulipwood fillet. Above the arbalest shaped frieze are two drawers decorated with intricate parquetry of butterflied tulipwood panels framed within kingwood with a maplewood border and impressive keyhole escutcheon. At each side the same pattern is repeated on a checker board marquetry pattern. Above rests the mottled and scalloped shape Sienna marble top.
