Late 18th Century French Louis XIV Style Hand Carved Walnut Commode or Chest

About the Item

This late-eighteenth century Louis XIV style hand carved walnut commode or chest of drawers was found in the region of Normandy, France. This piece features three drawers of dovetail construction with facades of symmetrical hand carved panels fitted with their original bronze drawer pulls and escutcheons. The escutcheons are detailed with scrolling and flanking cherubs, and the drawer pulls are decorated with shells and flowers. Hand pegged with solid panel sides and a beveled top, this sturdy piece stands ready to grace any interior. c. 1800.
