Period Oak Chest of Drawers

About the Item

This charming old oak Georgian chest of drawers started life as a book press sadly the press which would have been on the top of the chest has long gone The chest has two short drawers at the top and three longer graduated drawers beneath and it has brass swan neck handles The top of the chest is a bit lighter than the rest of the chest it may have been in the sunlight and this would cause bleaching but it has the most wonderful patina, the chest has bracket feet and a shaped apron at the bottom. The chest is of very solid construction it has no creaks or splits or, the drawers run very smoothly, there are some ink stains on the top, the chest is fully restored with pieces let in at the sides to fill the spaces where the press once was, full of character a very beautiful piece The chest measures 35" high 34" wide and 19" deep MD31.
