Large Art Déco Credenza / Chest of Drawers by Alfred Porteneuve

About the Item

Large french Art Déco credenza / commode by Alfred Porteneuve. (1896-1949) in original condition of the thirties. Alfred Porteneuve, born in paris studied architecture at the "Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts. He was the nephew of Jacques -Émile Ruhlmann. With his uncle, he participated in the design of the pavillon at the 1925 Expostion Internationales des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels in Paris. Alfred Porteneuve was the collaborator and successor of Ruhlmann. The large credenza is in the original condition of the twenties/ thirties. Whether the design of this furniture is still from Ruhlmann is not known, but he had similar furniture made in his workshops. The credenza is always attributed to Alfred Porteneuve. Documented on Artnet and a french auction house in Paris. The manufactury quality is very solid, the interior of the drawers is also in the original condition , also the handles are the original. At the bottom there is a brass strip. All drawers close well, the handles are firmly seated. The credenza / chest of drawers is a very classic French Art Déco furniture. Since the credenza has almost museum quality, it is offered in original condition with slight veneer damage and age -related signs of use. On customer request, the furniture can be professionally restored by us for an additional charge. Veneer damage will then be repaired and the credenza can be polished. The interior, however, remains in its original condition.
