Antique Breton Buffet-Vaisselier/French Cupboard in Chestnut with Open Rack
About the Item
A lovely French Breton buffet-vaisselier or cupboard in chestnut with open dish rack. Incised foliate and floral carvings throughout are studded with decorative brass nailheads. Top is composed of an open rack with palmette carvings along crown molding and is embellished with an alignment of carved arches with small turnings on three shelves which provide accessible storage as well as the visual display of dishes. Base has a carved top edge and offers two drawers over two cabinet doors that open to a shelved interior. Incised carvings of swags with daisies adorn scalloped bottom apron and drawers, with pinwheels running along the center of the piece. Brittany, France, circa 1800.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Has all the original components, including key plates, lock, hinges, interior shelf & decorative nails. There are some missing decorative nails. No restoration has been done except to wax over the original finish. Piece features a beautiful patina.
