Antique Dutch Cupboard ~ Vaisselier in Stripped Oak

About the Item

Antique Dutch cupboard ~ Vaisselier in stripped oak is a charming ode to traditional craftsmanship by Dutch masters that goes back many centuries! This example was rendered from solid white oak, and fitted with a solid, chamfered pine backing to create a piece that will become an instant family heirloom that your descendants will continue to enjoy for decades to come. The bold, multi-tiered crown molding presides over the bonnet carved with stylized floral and folaite relief, supported in the front with turned columns that flank the open shelving of the top tier. The shelving features contoured trim and side supports with graduated scrollwork, and interesting Dutch touches like a small center cabinet with a pediment on top, and turned knobs on the face of the lower shelf for hanging cups. The base provides a substantial serving surface, with a single drawer concealed into the molded detailing just under the surface. Below that, wonderful geometric forms combine with carved foliate and floral motif that matches the bonnet above, followed by a multi-tiered base molding and extended feet below scrolled in a corbel fashion. Steel key guards and hinges are apparent from the outside, and the doors open to reveal capacious interior with contoured shelf edges and charming lockworks which are a copy of locks made three hundred years ago! Circa early 1900s Measures 79 H x 57 W x 23 D; surface 38 H.
