Federal Cherry Slant Lid Desk
About the Item
A very nice size late 18th century American Cherry Chippendale slant front desk with white Pine secondary wood. Four molded graduated drawers constructed with large early dovetails with very old but not original hardware. Very old and possibly original worn dry surface showing many years of use. Very nice fitted interior compartments with a block front carved drawer on either end. All drawers are working smoothly in the case. Great color and aged patina to the Cherry surface. Working lock with a key on the lid.

- Condition:Repaired: Old repairs to the tops of a couple of the drawers and the left front foot over the years. Minor other repaired areas to the underside of the lid where it locks to the top. Age case cracks to the sides. A very heavy solid case. Wear consistent with age and use. This desk was used and wasn’t just a show piece of furniture. it looks as an 18th century piece should look, not skinned and refinished.
