French Mid-19th Century Louis XV Style Tulipwood and Kingwood Bureau Plat
About the Item
A very handsome French mid 19th century Louis XV st. tulipwood and kingwood Bureau Plat. The desk is raised on cabriole legs accented at the top with finely chased ormolu mounts. Three quarter veneered tulipwood drawers at the frieze with ormolu handles and keyhole escutcheons. The smaller side drawers have a tapered scrolled ormolu mount at one side. The back is likewise decorated with three faux drawers. At the top are the original gilt-tooled leather within a kingwood border and an ormolu moulded gallery with ormolu seashell mounts at each corner.
