About the Item
George III inlaid mahogany bureau
This George III inlaid mahogany bureau was made circa 1780.
It has the unusual drawer formation of a wide drawer at the top, a pair of small drawers under and then a further 2 wide graduated drawers below. The drawer linings are in oak, with the early way of construction boards running front to back, rather than side to side.
The mahogany fall with shell inlay to each corner and the central urn.
The fall opens to reveal the beautiful, stepped interior with the central cupboard that is inlaid with a soldier and the pigeon-holes for stationery.
The bureau that is of a wonderful colour stands on bracket feet.
The sides are inlaid with stringing.
Imagine this wonderful Georgian desk in your home, not only is it stunning on the outside, but you have the double pleasure of the most attractive interior.
