One of a Kind Custom Dry Bar Cabinet by Philip Johnson
About the Item
A one of a kind unique custom piece from celebrated American architect Philip Johnson (1906-2005). This tiger maple bar cabinet was designed by Philip Johnson for the NYC residence of Williams A.M. Burden Jr. (1906-1984), an long-term ex-president of MOMA and a client of Johnson's. Burden's Apartment remains as the only private apartment commission of Johnson's. The bar, with its impressive size, and finished back, can also function as a great room divider. It features a built-in fridge (no longer work, so only as storage), a disposal bin, a fold-down lip for serving and two columns of drawers with various height and built-in bottle and glasses holder.
A bespoken piece with interesting provenance and design history.
