19th Century Large German Baroque Style Secretary a Deux Corps

About the Item

Large German Provincial Baroque secretary a Deux corps from the Eifel region. Probably a one-off production from the 19th century. Solidly handcrafted from different types of wood (including maple and oak) with inlay work and carving. Standing on 4 pressed ball feet, consisting of 2 parts. Lower part made in an unusual shape with laterally bevelled and finely carved corners and a protruding part with a curved, profiled base. 2 curved doors to match the base on outside brass hinges, behind which there are 2 shelves. Above is the writing flap with inlays, behind which there are 4 small drawers. High vitrine top with 2 glazed doors, also on outside brass hinges. 3 curved cutted shelves inside. Broken round arch profile cornice. Dimensions: 106 cm (lower part) / 246 cm high or 41.73 inch (lower part)/ 96.85 inch (full dimension) high, 126 cm wide or 49.61 inch wide, 66 cm / 96 cm (with the flap open) deep or 25.98 / 37.79 (with the flap open), The secretary was part of the prop in the well-known and successful TV crime series "Mord mit Aussicht" on German television (with an average of over 6.5 million viewers). It stood in the forester's house Much, which served as the backdrop for the home of Sophie Haas (leading actress).
