Antique Mahogany Empire Secretary with Extraordinary Inlay, circa 1810-1820

About the Item

Extraordinary antique Empire secretary desk circa 1810-1820 from Denmark or N. Germany. The cabinet is made in three sections and covered in mahogany veneer with lighter inlays. Behind the drop front, the interior is fitted with a number of smaller drawers, a small center door and secret compartments. Above the drop front is a narrow horizontal drawer that is actually a pull out leather writing surface. Take time to examine all the close up photos – the architecture, casework and craftsmanship are exemplary. In over 30 years of dealing with antiques in both Europe and the United States, this secretary has one the most decorative and detailed inlay work we have seen. Truly a spectacular find! ** In light of current affairs and fluctuating fuel prices shipping quotes and timelines are estimates only. Buyer is required to notify us upon purchase if there are interior or exterior stairs, steps, or freight elevators necessary to complete delivery.
