Antique Venetian Paint Decorated Secretary Bookcase
About the Item
A tall cabinet made in two parts in blue paint with polychrome painted floral and gilt figural decoration. With a serpentine baroque crest with a gilt landscape in the center cartouche flanked by colorful flowers. The two door cabinet with gilt figural panels with courting couples and gilt and colored floral borders. It opens to a red painted interior with two shelves and gilt painted pendant floral decoration on the doors
The case with drop front decorated with gilt figures making music in a landscape and flanked by colored flowers. It opens to a red and green painted interior with cubby holes and the red writing surface with gilt figures in a landscape.
The lower serpentine case with three long drawers decorated with scenes of figures in landscapes and colored flowers as well. The sides with gilt scenes with figures in landscapes again. Raised on short cabriole legs.
Measures: height 84", wide 31", depth 17"
Condition: Please see all detail photos. There are several finish losses detailed. Several chips and losses overall, stable age related cracks to the sides (Please see photos), however despite the losses the presentation is colorful and magnificent.
