Rare Minimalist 'Isocele' Étagère by Artist, Sculptor Max Sauze, France 1970

About the Item

Beautiful and super 'Isocele' étagère by French sculptor and artist Max Sauze. This 'Isocele' étagère designed in 1970 is certainly one of the rarest forms created by Sauze and is very seldom seen on the market so we are sure they were produced in very small numbers. The 'Isocele' étagère was exhibited at the Ateliers D'art in Paris in 1970, please see image 3 which documents Sauze's 'Ateliers D'art' exhibition stand, the étagère can clearly be seen to the far right. The triangulated space frame structure is made up of a series of chromed steel wire interlocking elements with smoked glass shelves so they can be quickly and easily dismantled for shipping. A brilliantly creative design which features no fixings just snap together elements. A must for fans of 1960s minimalism, Donald Judd, Sol Lewitt etc.
