Swedish Modern, Multifunctional Shelves in Solid Pine, Late 19th Century

About the Item

In the year 1877, the Swedish Royal library moved into a newly constructed building in Humlegården, Stockholm. The Architect was Gustaf Dahl. On the top 3 floors of the original building, in the book storage areas, these wooden shelves were placed on iron holders built into the house walls. During the 1990s the building was renovated and they were supposed to be thrown away, and if it hadn´t been for a carpenter working with the renovations, they would surely be gone for now. Instead they are now a preserved piece of history. These Swedish Modern wall shelves in solid pine can be used in multiple functions. Either as a single shelf solution, a shoe rack or a larger shelve unit, only the imagination set boundaries for the endless possibilities. They will complement any type of modern interior. A classic, Scandinavian or an Art Deco home. A warm colour and patina that pair well with the Minimalist scandinavian lifestyle. Scandinavian design is characterized by a minimal, clean approach that seeks to combine functionality with beauty. Its focus is on simple lines and light spaces. NB: Sold seperately.
